Lizbeth Maxson-McGee's exhibit, Our Silent Service"Our Silent Service"

Opening Reception
Friday, June 3, 2011, 5-8 p.m.

A new exhibit featuring original watercolor paintings by Lizbeth Maxson-McGee will open with a reception on June 3, 2011, from 5-8 pm at THE GALLERY. Titled "Our Silent Service", the exhibit will showcase Maxson-McGee's new series of submarine-themed art. The artist painted these works in celebration of the contributions made by the nation's submarine force. This solo show runs through July 18.

A long-time resident of Groton, Maxson-McGee has ties to the maritime world dating back generations. In fact, during the Civil War, her great-great-grandfather was co-owner of the Mystic shipyard that built the "Galena," an ironclad vessel. The subject matter of this exhibit is a natural extension to the landscape, lighthouse and maritime works inspired by her travels in Southeastern Connecticut.

The opening of this exhibit coincides with NLArt Night #3. NLArt Night occurs on the first Friday of every month and runs from 5-8 pm. City shops and art organizations are open for business and live entertainment is provided. Visit www.NLart.org for more information.
